First, let me say that I was planning on doing my next inspiration series post. However, I felt that I needed to take a little break and honor a special someone in my planning process. I’ve been trying to rehash my planning experience as it happened, for the most part, but this next “shout out” doesn’t fall into that sequence. Now that I’m so close to my wedding, this person has really been a huge part and I think anyone looking for a wedding planner or coordinator should know about mine. Truth be told, I didn’t think I wanted a planner for the wedding. I love to plan events and ca...

I recently had the opportunity to observe a wedding that didn't have a planner. I really had a hard time not interfering. Like a serious hard time. In fact, in the end, I couldn't not interfere. Cartoon Source But here were some things that I observed as a by-stander/not their wedding planner/didn't want to take over. 1. The bride wasn't dressed 15 minutes before she was supposed to walk down the aisle. Neither were the bridesmaids. No one knew what to do, they were very sadly lost. No direction, the photographer was snapping pictures, but no one had any clue, when I said, "okay, there i...

How to become a wedding planner As mentioned before in my post Why does everyone want to become a wedding planner I get asked a lot by students and people aspiring to be wedding planners how to get into the business. I wrote my last post on why I couldn’t take on staff or placements, so I thought I would try and be a little more helpful and stop telling people why I can’t do something and try and offer some advice instead. The main thing I get asked is 1) do I have any work placements/jobs and 2) can I offer advice to those who call or email me on how to get a leg up in the business. No on...

The ladies from Evotive sent me a sample of their new wedding planning notebook, Be Wed. I like the environmentally friendly aspect of the guide, the modern casing and the elegant graphics. A disk with extra printable pages is always useful too. I think the pages for vendor comparisons a bit much, and some of these fill-in pages I personally would plug straight into a database (like a guest list), but overall, a cool and useful tool. I also like the overall organizational structure of "be prepared", "be inspired" and "be relaxed" that they devised. I suggest checking it out in person befo...
